Top Fuel dragster racing a stock vehicle!

Mike Dunn used Doug Herbert’s Top Fuel dragster to race a brand new Pontiac G6 to show just how quick a T/F dragster accelerates. The dragster is only on the throttle for 1 second and the Pontiac is FULL THROTTLE for the entire length of the track and it still cant catch the coasting Top Fuel dragster! THE POINT OF THIS VIDEO IS NOT HOW SLOW THE STOCK VEHICLE IS…… IT’S ABOUT HOW QUICK THE T/F DRAGSTER ACCELERATES!

    They need to. A 1/4 mile is the benchmark for almost ALL acceleration; that and 0-60mph. The sport looks different and seems irrelavent at only 1000′. I’ve been watching NHRA my entire memorable life, some 26 years for this 30 year old. The sport looks different without those last 320′.

    I agree with timmysull below. Car crazy is required, it doesn’t matter what you drive as long as you tune it and rod it. It can run on rice, bacon grease or high explosives. I think we all know what this one runs on.

    Gah. Like a bolt of lightning! Only made out of steel and carbon fiber. Lol. Long live Top Fuelers. (even IF they took away their Quarter Mile)

    I wonder if they are gonna put back the 1/4 mile for the nitro categories, i thought they would for the 2009 season and they did not.

    i gotta admit i love top fuel and v8s but they are making US drive a electric cereal box while they are making ten times the emissions

    That’s what he said, though. Point 5 seconds (1/2 a second), point 4 seconds. Anyway you look at it, it is amazing.

    first 4-500 ft…….however, Ky Michaelsons Hydrogen Peroxide Rocket
    powered ” Pollution Packer ” Dragster,
    driven by Kitty O’ Neal in 1977…set the
    World Record for the 1/4 mile @ 3.22
    ET. @ 412 mph !! That record Still stands…to this day !!

    Ok well the fuel cars run in the mid 4 sec range. What do you think will happen?

    The official record is 4.428 by Tony Schumacher, the Doug Kalita run was not backed up with a run within 1%. The mph record is 336.15 by Tony too.

    Fastest thing on earth as of now is the super roadrunner rocket motor at Holliman High Speed Test Track in New Mexico. Type it in,there’s footage.

    lol the view from the pontiac looked like he was stopped on the freeway, that dragster was 60+ mph by the time it came into view
